Can anyone advise please? I have an iphone and a MacBook Air as does my (now ex) partner. The devices are all linked but i obviously now want to unlink my macbook and iphone from his macbook and iphone. Is it the case that the apple id is the link and if I change the apple id on my macbook and iphone will that do the trick? Will his macbook and iphone continue to fudtion noramally if i do this?

Thanks for this. A supplementary question - if I change my appleID wil i lose anything in terms of calander contacts etc that my psrtner may have created but I can currently see because we share the same appleID? Thanks

Yes, but you'll still need to use the old ID to update software that you bought with it in the App Stores, or else delete all that software and repurchase it with the new ID.
