Why am I missing Ultrabeat Drum Kits?

greetings!

i use LPX on two computers, my main setup is on an iMac, and I also use a MB Air. For some reason I am short the vast majority of drum kits on my MB Air. I know because the list is huge on my iMac, while I have maybe fifteen on the Air. I have tried to download additional content, but it just isn't there. For some reason LPX thinks I have them all and I don't. Could this be because my other version of LPX is complete? I just don't get it.

Have asked in other communities without help. Short of deleting LPX off my MB Air and reloading it all, what else can I do. Its not a problem, as my intenet is fast and can download all the content in a few hours, but before I do that, is there anything else I can do?

If I do erase LPX, will I lose the projects I've got on my Air?

Thanks

Manually check through each of the categories in the Additional Download Dialog box.. to make sure you truly have downloaded all the content available... by clicking on the little 'disclosure' triangles to the left of each section.....

If it is all there.. and has the word 'Installed' to the right of each section and sub section.. then try reindexing Spotlight..... as the indexes may have become corrupted.

Spotlight is used by OS X (and therefore Apps) to know where all files are stored on your Mac...

There are several methods of doing this.. but if you are comfortable using Terminal, this one seems to be the best one overall... and has proven to be very successful when the indexes have become corrupted....

Notes: Make sure you have a full backup of your System Drive before doing anything... unless you are crazy enough to just dive in without any safety net.. in which case, you are on your own!

Make sure you type the commands in Terminal exactly as shown. I personally suggest it is easier to simply copy and paste them....

This will take a while (5 or so mins) and make your Mac go into "jump-jet" mode with the fans, but:

  1. Open Terminal
  2. type or copy/paste
    sudo rm -rf /.Spotlight-V100
  3. then
    sudo rm -rf /.Spotlight-V200
  4. then
    sudo mdutil -i off /
  5. then
    sudo mdutil -i on /
  6. finally
    sudo mdutil -E /

Basically in short, it resets spotlight and tells it to reindex EVERYTHING it normally should do on your System Drive.

Once this has been completed, restart your Mac and then test.....

Thank you for your very detailed response. Unfortunately there was no additional content available for download, and I also followed your procedure exactly, but it didn't work.

it's not the end of the world. Gosh, I have thousands and thousands of drum samples. Still, I just like Ultrabeat. Some of the newer kids are actually quite nice. It's just an easy way to open up a plug-in and get a beat going very quickly that doesn't sound really crummy. I still use it for all of my hi hat patterns because it allows me to use choke groups which you cant do with straight MIDI sampled drums on the EXS or other drum sample players I have. The swing and modulation options are also excellent.

ANy other ideas? If I was to delete Logic and reload, could that work?
