How can I connect my 2009 Macbook Pro to an HDMI TV?

I've searched high & low and haven't come up with anything related specifically to my laptop. I have an older (~2009) Macbook Pro (model A1278), and a new television that takes HDMI input. I have a 2-way HDMI cable (no dice, no HDMI output on the Macbook) and an HDMI cable with adapter for a Macbook (the mini version that actually plugs in). No dice there either...from what Apple Support told me, the computer is simply too old.

Surely there must be another way?? Someone please help me out!

Thank you!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Serial Number A1278

Dr. Cube, you should be able to get that Mini-Displayport to work just fine with an HDMI adapter on it.

Even with Snow Leopard it should be able to port the video handily - though there will not be sound, so you'll need to get a mini-phono adapter to go to the inputs on the TV. I have a 2009 MBP and it does work for me, with 10.6.8 as well.

I'd check that adapter first. Is it working?

If it just will not, do you have a DVI or VGA port on the TV? You can opt to get an adapter for one of those ports.
