Q: Use old Time Machine Disk for new OS
Hello,
Quick question:
I recently updated from OS X Lion to OS X Yosemite and an SSD Disk
so far everything runs smooth.
I now want to configure my Time Machine Backup and i would like to use the "old" Time Machine Disk i used with OS X Lion
- Can i just select the Drive in Time Machine Preferences and Time Machine will continue were OS X Lion stopped with backing up?
- Or will the new OS X Yosemite Time Machine Back up delete all my old Time Machine Backups and start fresh (not wanted just for info)
I would like to continue on my Time Machine Disk right were the old Backups stopped, so i have one continuing Backup, regardless if it was made with OS X Lion or from now on with OS X Yosemite.
Thank you for your answer, please excuse my non perfect english, it is not my native language
Best Regards Gabriel
OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), MacBook Pro Early 2011

If you followed Apple's instructions to recover the startup volume to the new drive, Time Machine will automatically continue where it left off.
