ICLOUD PHOTO PLEASE HELP

Hi I have recently upgraded to iCloud photo. I took some photographs with my iPhone and transferred them to iCloud, and they all appeared on iPhoto, I thought great it worked, however after taking a second set of pictures on my iPhone the pictures were in iCloud photo but had not been transferred to iPhoto on my mac. I have checked everything that I can think of and read the forums and trouble shooting but nothing seems to work. Can someone help please.
