how can I make numbers 2.3 the default when I open a file instead of it opening to numbers 3.5

how can I make numbers 2.3 the default when I open a file instead of it opening to numbers 3.5.

I prefer numbers 2.3. But the latest numbers 3.5 is set as default and the file opens in 3.5 automatically. So I have to do the extra steps of click 'open with' and choose 'number 2.3'. I like the convenience of clicking the file and it opening in 2/3 like it did before 3/5 was added to my new computer - Mac Pro with retina

Keep in mind this will only work if you are opening the files by double-clicking them in a folder on your computer.

  1. Try the steps again, making sure you are choosing the older version of Numbers in the Open With menu and that you are clicking "Change all" when done.
  2. Once complete, restart your computer.
  3. If the issue persists, SafeBoot your computer and then restart it once again: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262
  4. Try changing the default again at this point.
  5. If the issue persists, take a screenshot of the Get Info window of the Numbers document you are working with and post it: How to take a screenshot on your Mac - Apple Support
