How do I edit only parts of a picture ?

Hi, generally I am happy with the photos update but I just wondered if it is possible that in the editing software it is possible to do things like make the sky bluer etc without adjusting the whole picture like is possible in photoshop ??

At the moment all I seem to be able to do is change the whole picture

Many thanks

No, Photos does not have brushes to apply effect only to a part of the picture.

You can do that in Apple's professional photo software Aperture, but Aperture will no longer be developed.

Photos 2.0 will bring more advanced effects and also the ability to use third party app extensions. But we do not know yet, what exactly will be available in Photos 2.0 next fall: Apple — OS X El Capitan

Until Photos 2 comes out and includes that capability you'll have to export the photo to the Desktop and edit it with a 3rd party editor that can do what you want.

Some Image Editors That Support layers:

Photoshop Elements 11 for Mac - $79

GraphicConverter - $40Rainbow Painter - $30
Imagerie - $38
Acorn - $50

Pixelmator - $60

Seashore - Free

GIMP for Mac - Free

Xee 2.1 - free

Note: GIMP for Mac is an open source app that is very much like Photoshop. Very powerful.
