Oct 5, 2015 9:31 AM in response to Winston Churchillby chinashaw,Ok. But I have a gmail account that is currently my Apple id with all the associated logins etc. What I want to do is stop using my gmail account completely and switch to my iCloud account (that I have never used.)
So all I want to do is replace the gmail email address with my iCloud email address and use that as my Apple ID. So that could be seen as a merger of 2 Apple ID's.
Instead of this, Apple will let me change the associated email address to an outlook or any other email but not my @icloud.com email address and I wondered if there was a work around?

Oct 5, 2015 10:13 AM in response to chinashawby Roger Wilmut1,I"m afraid you quite simply can't do this. @icloud.com address can't be transferred from one account to another. And if your ID is a non-Apple address you can change it to another non-Apple address (as long as it's not associated with another Apple ID) but you can't change to the @icloud.com address belonging to that or any other account.

You cannot replace the Gmail address with an iCloud email address as the Gmail address is already an Apple ID of record already. You cannot replace it with an email address already in use as an Apple ID which your iCloud email address is. Hope that helps.
