Reallocated Sector Count - Is there a fix, or do I have to replace the drive?

I have a mid-2009 Macbook Pro and it's always been a great computer. Recently I noticed it slowing down, freezing, and taking a very long time to boot up. Yesterday, I could barely use it without it freezing up, so I shut it down and it had trouble booting up. Had to restart it multiple times. I went ahead and reset the SMC and my macbook is running fast like it always used to today. 😕

In Disk Utility it won't allow me to repair the drive, so I ran a test and it comes up with reallocated sector count is failing. I attached 2 images below showing what I'm talking about. Is there any way to fix the reallocated sector count? Would wiping the drive clean and reinstalling OS X do anything? I really don't want to buy a new hard drive... lol

Thanks for your help!

I have a similar issue, although it was flagged from an app called DriveDx, which is indicating a reallocated sector count of 11. I've run a first aid on the hard drive via disk utility and found no issue.

Has anyone had experience with a Reallocated Sector Count problem, can it be fixed, and does the fact that Disk Utility doesn't pick up a problem mean I should be OK?

Cheers
