When I try to download new pictures into Aperture, I am getting an "unsupported image format" message and can't access the photos. This only happens with pictures from a new Nikon camera. Any suggestions on a fix?

Hi

Let us know which Nikon camera.

Does your 'relatively new Nikon camera' appear on the Apple RAW support list - see below

Your problem may be that newer cameras are usually only supported on newer versions of OS X

As you are on 10.7.5 it is unlikely that a new camera will be supported

So - more info and we may be able to assist

This is the current list for Yosemite:

OS X Mavericks: Supported digital camera RAW formats - Apple Support

Hope this helps

The Nikon D750 requires "Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.01"

See Here:

OS X Yosemite: Supported digital camera RAW formats - Apple Support

It can be downloaded here:

Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 6.01

The System requirements are:

OS X 10.10 w/ iPhoto 9.6 or Aperture 3.6

So - you will have a number of hoops to jump through - Update to 10.10 Yosemite and Aperture 3.6

Take great care as you will need Aperture 3.6.1 if you update to 10.10.3

Hope this helps
