Hello drpjk & all,

Quit both Safari & Sherlock these two seem to work together.

~Home/Library/Preferences & find the com.apple.Sherlock.plist file
Launch Sherlock any better?

If that doesn't do it, remove the com.apple.Safari.plist files & the Sherlock. plist file again, move them to the trash.

I hope this helps some, please let us know.

I've been getting the same error since upgrading to 10.4.8 - Sherlock movie channel worked fine before that.

Also the older Sherlock fixes do not work either, such as emptying and locking the Web Foundations folder (~/Library/Caches/Sherlock) and trashing Sherlock Pref files (~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Sherlock.plist).

This is a sad state of affairs for me because I use Sherlock on a regular basis, especially for local movie times and synopsis. I know that Apple is moving away from Sherlock, wanting Widgets to used instead. Unfortunately, at least where movie listings are concerned, there is no Widget that currently does as good a job as Sherlock did. The movie Widgets I have tried either do not list all the theaters in my area or do not list all the movies and showtimes in a convenient form - some look horrible as well.

I think we might as well get use to living without Sherlock and find alternatives - so far Widgets ain't it!

Hello again, Drpjk & all,

I did remove all the Sherlock.plist, Sherlock folder & Safari.plist files from the ~/Library/Preferences folder, on the iMac Intel & PowerBook ppc.
The "Movies" feature does not work, however it is also not working on my flat panel iMac running os 10.3.9 so it is not a 10.4.8 update change or issue. s all other features work.

As I have seen before there are a lot of ppl that never saw the use of it,
I have thought it very helpful, i like it a lot.

Many folks don't like it & or utilized it.

It would be nice to know it if has been disabled, no fun troubleshooting a dead horse if that is the case, then again perhaps that feature is just temporarily unavailable, a game of conjecture!

Hi Dr & et al,

It appears the movie channel was just temporarily unavaliable, it is up
for me today.

If you are still having issues, troubleshoot as i underlined in my post.
Look for the Sherlock folder in the the preferences folder as well.
Move the Movies plist file to the trash.
Trash only Sherlocks plist when you find it works for you.
You can put the Safari plist file back overwriting the the newly created one, thus restoring your Safari prefs.

Feedback would be much appreciated.
