My Numbers spreadsheets won't open and are giving me the following error message! index.xml file is missing

try this search:

You are attempting to open a Numbers v3.5 spreadsheet in Numbers 2.3. The former documents are a different architecture and no longer use an internal index.xml file. Quit Numbers v2.3, and then double-click the Numbers v3.5 spreadsheet to get it opened in that current application.
