My Iphone 5s was stolen in Lagos Nigeria, i tried locating the device with icloud and it's most recent location shown up in Boardman, OR, USA*. Now my fear goes thus; if i erase my device remotely, i hope i won't loose my previously backed up data like pictures and contacts on icloud. And again, if someone take a photograph with my iphone, will the person's picture still backup and display on my icloud account?

If I understand correctly your phone was stolen and youre concerned that the backed up data will be removed from iCloud if you erase the device remotely. No, that will not happen.
