Forgot Passcode for iPad

After I followed the steps, connected to iTunes, and entered the recovery mode, it began to restore the default setting. But it pop up a window said it cannot connect to iTunes, because it is locked by the passcode. And I fail to open my iPad. Anyone has the same problem? How can I solve this? Thank you.
