Q: scanner printer no working after migrating imac

Hi Guys

I have recently migrated my old iMac (early 2009) to the new iMac 27' 5k retina display using a combination of wifi and ethernet cable. All my apps and settings seemed to have transferred to the new iMac except one of the peripheral which is a HP Photosmart 5520 scanner printer. For some reason I can scan a document by going through the system preference, selecting printer, select scan, open scanner, then scan. However when I want to open the application and scan from the program, I have a message error telling me that the HP is not connected. Anyone can help on this please?

have you gone to hp's site and downloaded their latests drivers for the device? if not then you should

Your HP software is likely out-of-date. Another method is to use Image Capture which is pre-loaded on every Mac. Assuming your device is supported by Yosemite (which it appears it is) then use IC. If you have never used it before here is one article from Apple about it:

I have tried but the only version available on HP is under Maverick OS X . I then went to setting to enable 'Scan to computer' but it did not allow me to. It advises to download the latest version of driver on the HP website, I typed the model I owned, and it direct me to the same drivers I have just downloaded.
Am I doing something wrong? The scanner use to work on the early 2009 iMac with Yosemite , but now doesn't on the new iMac 27' with Yosemite. Am I missing something ? Thank you for your help.
