Does the kindle app draw a lot. Of battery power?
It appears as if my kindle app is running my battery down. Do others have this problem? If so, any solutions?

It might be the Kindle app; it might be something else. Check the usage stats. On long trips, I often put my iPad into Airplane mode which makes a huge difference in battery drain.
Thanks, I'll try reducing the brightness. My theory is based on two long distance plane trips. On the first, I had the kindle app turned off but watched two streaming movies over four hours. At the end of the trip, I had only used the battery down to 70%. Four days later I used the kindle app for about three hours. No other changes to running apps that I know. Still, my battery went down to 45%. Thus my suspicion that the kindle is drawing a large amount of power.
Yeah, the Kindle app is set up to synch with the Amazon servers though I don't know how often the check is made while reading with it.
On what are you basing this theory? Have you gone to Settings>Genera>Usage>Battery Usage to confirm exactly what is using you your battery?
I've never noticed that using the Kindle app use battery especially fast. However, as you have the screen on for long periods of time, that does use battery. Turn down the brightness to the lowest comfortable level.
To follow up on this - you can go under settings in the Kindle app (lower right hand corner) and turn Whispersync off if you want and then just turn it back on when you do want to do a sync.
