Photos and iMovie

I just upgraded to OS X and iPhotos became photos. Now I cannot get movies from iPhoto into iMovie. Tried to upgrade iMovie and the app store says my product was not bought with my current apple ID (untrue-I think)

Do I need to delete my current iMovie and re-download from scratch? I don't want to loose my current projects...
