i cannot download the itunes app

I have an IPod shuffle which I purchased yesterday, I have been trying to download the app so I could install CD's on the shuffle. It will install all the other apps apart from the one that states Apple Mobile Device Service failed to start.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still have the same response.

I have looked on the troubleshooting and one of the answers stated click on the menu button on the iTunes database but it does not appear on mine.

Any ideas
