Turn off AUTOPLAY in Safari on Yahoo ONLY by DISABLING JAVASCRIPT

I have tried click-to-flash

I have click-to-plugin

I still get those videos playing in Safari (but without sound)

the ONLY way I have been able to disable them is by having the Developer Menu in the menu bar and then clicking on

disable JAVASCRIPT then the videos come ads STATIC

but the rest of the page is truncated and clicking on LOAD MORE does nothing

because for the Yahell page to work it needs javascript so it can force videos and ads down your throat

someone out there has to be smarter than the Yahell people (but it's not me)

I do see it run .js inside the iframe after iframe after iframe

on the page

It's HTML5 AUTOPLAY that has to be stopped

I have found a script by someone somewhere to supposedly disable this, BUT it does not work

either

I have to BEAT YAHOO. I can NOT let them win!!!

ONLY

after downloading from the developer website after installing JS Blocker am I FINALLY able to

BLOCK THE AUTOPLAY VIDEOS!!!

A PICTURE shows up then it GOES BLACK!

I hate, just HATE, anything that AUTOMATICALLY does something.

Finally it's gone

and the click-to-flash or click-to-plugin does NOT do it, JUST JS Blocker

JS Blocker 5.0.4 (150602)

JS Blocker is open-source indie software created and developed by Travis Roman.

Video Blocker

This will block only HTML5

<video>
elements. To block Flash videos, use the Embed and Object Blocker. All videos are blocked by default. A placeholder can be used to load a specific video by clicking on it.

Image Hider

Images will only be prevented from appearing on the webpage. Unfortunately they will still be downloaded, though you will never see them. This is a limitation of WebKit, the engine behind Safari. All images are allowed by default regardless of where they are from. A placeholder can be used to view specific images by clicking on it.

This stopped ALL video on any page.......

all I want to do is block ONE WEBSITE

YAHELL

I want to read the stuff but I hate autoplay videos

safari, relegated to being browser #2 and I'll hopefully get firefox on my iOS devices so I can control it too

when it comes out

I truthfully, don't like firefox as much as I used to BUT it gives me some much more control to stop ads and videos

I wanted Safari to do it but it can't

I found a way to block it easy and you don't have to do it every time. They have a new autoplay video on the homepage now I just saw. Really annoying. If I want to watch a football game I'll turn it on the TV. This way you don't need to turn off JS as it's needed. Also if you need to do this again, look at the element code and find the script location it's coming from and block that specific location rather than turn off JS completely. You might forget to turn it back on and then that can be an issue.

You need a JS blocker, I use Javascript Blacklist, easy to use. Enter in exactly v4s.yimg.com this must be a new link it's pulling from and it will block the script from loading. In did leave an empty block in place but least it's not pulling data down needlessly and slowing the machine down. I had to inspect the element and see what the script was, I have a couple of older links that I've used too if you want to add them from yahoo video.media.yql.yahoo.com

and video-api.yql.yahoo.com

not sure if those are used anymore.

You'll need a JS blocker to block the video from loading, that's about the only way to do it. It won't slow your browser down, it will speed it up since it's not loading additional data from the video stream or script it must run. Javascript Blacklist is easy to install and add links and it's guaranteed to work.

Here's another link to block from the Yahoo home page where the some of the articles have videos if you don't want these loading. These load automatically, you'll need to turn off JS blocker if you do want to play the video. s.yimg.com
