Anyone know how to import Canon XF-AVC media into FCPX? ( latest version) . It is from the new Canon XC10 and apart from third party software, which I'm reluctant to use, I'm at a loss and would welcome a solution - however obvious!
It seems be in a MXF wrapper.

What happens when you try to import it? Are you getting an error message?

This is what it says on the Apple web site. Not sure if this applies to your camera; manufacturers seem to change these things on a monthly basis.

Well the answer is that FCPX does not yet support XF-AVC. There was some publicity in April saying that it would but it is obviously that might or might not appear in the next firmware revision.
On the Canon micro site for XC10 there is a table of which NLE's support this new codex and Edius Pro vers 8.0 is the only one . For FCPX it just says 'to be tested'
So I'll have to look for another solution.
Are these clips H.264 in an MXF wrapper? Could you open up the folder structure and post a screen shot? It would also be interesting to know what happens when you try to import.
This siteclaims FCP X supports it., BTW.

Russ - what happens is that you import audio files only. It simply doesn't work and I'll need to wait until Apple support this new file structure. I saw the page you are referring too before I bought the camera assuming that XF-AVC would be supported and am a bit miffed that it isn't.

Before buying the Brorsoft MXF converter or anything similar I would rather recommend using EditReady by Divirgentmedia: http://www.divergentmedia.com/editready
Apart from offering advanced and quick conversion it can also handle 100/120fps footage without any problems and the conversion speed is excellent.
Canon just released the plug in for fcP; after upgrading FCP to the lates version and downloading the plugin, the installer crashes and does not complete the process; did anyone experienced the same? Any suggestion?
