Cannot get my number de-registered from apple so I can receive texts on android

I just switched from an iphone to the Galaxy and cannot get texts from apple users that I frequently talk to. I followed all the steps sent my customer support and I am still not getting some messages, anyone have any ideas......

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

It sounds as if, from what you are describing, you've already attempted to deregister your iMessage following the instructions found here:


If you can’t get text messages from an iPhone - Apple Support


If that is the case and you were unable to deregister, the article provides these recommendations:

If you don't have your iPhone or can't turn off iMessage

Use the deregister iMessage webpage. Learn more about deregistering iMessage.



In particular, the link that refers to "Learn more" goes into a lot more detail depending on the error message or issue you're seeing. If the message is that it cannot deregister then it provides this recommendation:



I got a message saying Apple wasn't able to remove my phone number from iMessage. Why?

This can happen on rare occasions. Contact Apple support to deregister iMessage in this case.
