Jun 28, 2015 1:54 PM in response to CaroleonMacBookProby Niel,★HelpfulInsert a compatible Mac OS X(or on some G4s, Mac OS 8 or 9) install disk, restart with the C or Option key held down, and use the Disk Utility(or the Finder or Drive Setup) to erase the internal drive. Alternatively, just remove the drive from the computer.

Jun 28, 2015 1:55 PM in response to CaroleonMacBookProby Kappy,★HelpfulBoot from your OS X Installation DVD. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu (or Edit menu.)
1. After Disk Utility loads select the volume you wish to format from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
2. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
If there is a Security option in the Erase panel, then click on it and set the security option to Zero Data - One Pass. Click on the OK button.
