Can my Ipod Classic hard drive be saved?

I followed video step by step instructions to replace the battery in my 9 year old IPod 80 GB and every went smooth until the last step where I connect the ribbon wire into a tiny clamp! While trying to gently hold the clamp open to insert the end of the ribbon wire, the clamp just came off. It is very tiny, smaller than a BB. I was wondering if it were possible to put my hard drive from this botched job into another casing or if the clip could be repaired or...if I'm SOL? I backed all the songs up to a flash drive and when I went to move them to a new PC I found some files that somehow didn't backup. Otherwise I would just buy a new IPod.
