exporting from pages to word

Mac OS Yosemite 10.10.3

Pages 5.5.3

iMac (27'', end 2013), 3,5 GHz Intel Core i7

why exporting a .pages file (only text, no pictures, tables etc.) to Word format results in very large .doc file ?

Aperture 3, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Thank Apple for that. If you typed just the letter 'A' in a Pages v5 document and exported it, the document would still be 500Kb in size. This is the high price for translating from the Pages v5 document architecture to Word.

Open that exported Word document in Word, or LIbreOffice and resave. It will shrink down to about 18Kb.
