Please detail ALL you have done so far in the way of troubleshooting? Need this info to avoid the been there done that scenarios.

Have you restarted your comp?

Per your system profile you are still using OS 10.10. which is an out of date OS. Use Software Update/App Store to update your OS to OS 10.10.3. Also, update everything SU/AS has to offer for your computer. When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.

Also, please update/correct your ASC profile.

hello. thank you for the quick response. i am running 10.10.3. i first ran the disk utility and verified both the disk and permissions. the results of the disk verification said that there was an error and i needed to run the disk repair program. i restarted the computer while holding down the command and r keys until the apple logo appeared. i then ran the disk repair. at first , it stated that the disk couldn't be repaired and i should download any files i want to keep. since this was a new hd, i ran the program again. this time ti said my disk was ok . i then ran it a third time, with the samr results of no errors and the disk was ok. i then repaired the permissions and it cleared. i wish i could stay and work it out with you, but i have to go to work now. i will be home after 3.30am, and any suggestions that you have, i will read and follow then. thank you again, a. stewart

hello, i am sorry to have taken so long to answer your response. i have to confess that i am not tech savy enough to attempt the solutions you've provided me. the disk contains twelve years of music and photos that i will pay any price to recover(especially the photos). i've researched a couple of data recovery companies and will pick the one that has the best reviews for apple data recovery. thanks again, tonyvision.
