My ical will not auto create an event from my email. Any suggestions?

This just started...I used to be able to double click an event/meeting attachment in my email and it would switch over to my calendar and upload the event. This stopped and I have to manually add every detail to a newly created calendar event. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I've quit both email and calendar.
