I was thinking about getting a new Ipod touch, and I was wondering if it could play Bethesda's Fallout Shelter app. Does it play the app, or do I have to pay more for an Ipad?

Do not get the iPod touch if you are planning to play this game! This game is optimize for 1gb ram devices. The iPod only has 512mb. In my experience if you have 30+ vault dwellers the app will crash upon loading the vault! Yes it will work, but it isn't fun to play with only 20ish vault dwellers!
Alright, what about the iphone 4?
Fallout Shelter is for the iPhone 5 and up, the iPad 3 and up, and the iPad Mini 2 and up. It is optimized for the iPhone 6, 6+, and iPad Air 2. The game runs on iOS 7 and up.
Devices with 512 MB of RAM are not supported. This includes the iPhone 4s, iPod Touch Gen 5, iPad 2, iPad Mini Gen 1.
Taken from the Official F.A.Q. I doubt they will support 512mb ram devices soon. That is too little ram, for this game to run on.
Where are those FAQ? The app description, as I copied in my first reply says it will work with iPhone 4 since it has iOS 7. I am not saying that the game will run well though
Alright then. It can work with the 4, but it OPTIMIZED for the 5-6 iphones, and so on.
