Tips to reinstalling iTunes
Recently ran into an issue with iTunes doing nothing after being told to launch. Found that I couldn't easily delete and reinstall iTunes so I thought I'd share the steps here for others wanting to know how to reinstall iTunes.
Reinstall iTunes:
- Goto your Applications Folder on your Mac. From the Finder Type ⌘⇧ Shift A
- Find your iTunes app and choose Get Info. ⌘I
- In the bottom right corner click on the padlock icon and enter your admin password.
- In the "Sharing & Permissions" section change "everyone" from "Read only" to "Read & Write."
- Close the Get Info window and delete the iTunes app from your applications folder (select and hit delete key or drag to trash).
- Restart your Mac
- Under the Apple icon choose App Store and search for iTunes
- Reinstall iTunes
- Hold the Option Key (⌥) and launch iTunes by double clicking the iTunes icon.
- When prompted choose your iTunes library (/Users/username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library.itl)
