Howdy tt2... the 'auto-save' indication brings up a good point - shouldn't that action refresh the expiration timestamp like an open reply pane does? We know it does not (or at least DID not) - maybe that is why so many of these lately, they are trying to fix that aspect(?) - it wouldn't be the first attempt at fixing something that broke something else. I never knew to be thankful for not having to release code to a bazillion users - my "public" was always a semi-controlled group with "system requirements" and such.
Weirdly I think the open reply pane trick only works when it is a background tab, one of many quirks regarding the forum software. 😕

👿 sounds like an 'overnight' proving of your theory is in order 😎
Our assumption, then, is that the open Reply only works while in a background TAB? To prove otherwise, I will leave one open in the foreground at bedtime tonight. I guess this thread will be as good as any, huh?
Probably. 😉

another theory bites the dust. If I had some burning Question to ask, I would give New > Discussion a whirl without timeout defeating measures employed.
I guess that makes more sense since the new discussion page could have a different template.

Indeed = different template
curiouser and curiouser... said Alice (we know the answer, methinks... "coding oversight"? <[to be kind])
alas, may be that the recent spate may be the result of "work in progress" - or just coincidence...
