Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post it looks like you have an application which is unresponsive, thus causing your Mac to not shut down properly. Please try and force quit the app you were using by following the directions below.
Force an app to close on your Mac - Apple Support

Jul 2, 2015 9:11 AM in response to alex_h1by thenakats,Tried all of that Alex. I have to bring it in to a genius .. I'm totally locked out. spent about 2hrs on the phone w/tech and they couldn't help. Thanks for the response.
