I just received this email from News@insideApple.Apple.com.........saying that my HardDisk might be defective and offering a replacment...........Is this a Spam or a normal procedure? Thanks

If it was personally addressed to you, it's either spam or a phishing email. Apple only uses that address for newsletters.

I got the same email. The email correctly refernced my iMac S/N. I called the local apple store genius bar. At first the tech indicated that was the first they heard about the issue but after putting me on hold later verified the recall. It is difficult to know what to believe anymore.
Such a replacement program has just been introduced.
