run .exe on mac for free?

hello fellow mac users. is there a way to run .exe's on a mac for free? i have heard of programs that cost like $70 plus a new version of windows, but nothing free. i just recently converted from windows to mac this past summer, and some of the programs that i need are .exe's. please respond, or email me back at zamar721@comcast.net

WINE is possibly an option, but may not work with all Windows applications.

Boot Camp is free, but does require a full copy of Windows XP SP2.
