I have just upgraded my contract to iphone 6, but I haven't inserted the sim and not turned the handset on either. The phone has been stolen. I still have the iphone 6 box which contains Part number, Serial Number and IMEI ID. Is there anyway of finding out with the handset details if its being used/?

There is no way to track your phone. Report it to your carrier so that they can block that number so that the thief cannot use it then.
