I can't connect from my Macbook pro to my PC

I can't connect from my Macbook pro to my PC on my home network. I keep getting the message "the operation can’t be completed because the original item for “J” can’t be found." The mac sees the drives, but that's the closest I can get.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

file sharing on home network. I can open files from PC looking onto the Mac, but not vice versa. My PC desktop is direct into the router since it is not wireless. My network skills are not the greatest, but when I click onto the PC Directory and/or drive (from the Mac) I get the "message". Or, I can also select connect as, where a login comes up asking for PC user name and password, but nothing works. I'm presently going thru my Comcast router (Cisco) on a Cat 5 cable, which does not seem affect the connection either way.
