2.4ghz wireless mouse not connecting to MacBook pro

Hello,

I recently bought a Wireless Optical 2.4 GHz nano mouse for my MacBook pro. However, when I put batteries in my mouse and turned it on, no matter how much I moved the mouse it did not move on my Mac. I tried taking it out and putting it back in and changing batteries but still nothing. I know it's not a mouse issue because when I plugged it in to my Acer aspire v5 it worked fine. Can someone resolve this issue?
