Q: photos freezes
I'm using OS X Yosemite and Photos 1.0. I'm having different problems that may be connected, or not. When I edit pictures, my computer will lock up. The only way out is to hard reboot. The second problem is a recent problem. When trying to close Photos, a message pops up saying "closing Library". The message never goes away. You have to Force Quit Photos to stop the program. I was testing, following community directions, and created a new library, to see if it would close properly. When doing this, I noticed I have two libraries- 1) iPhoto and 2) Photos. I don't know if this is an issue? My new library had no issues with closing, or editing pictures. I do have an external drive that I used for iPhoto. I don't know if Photos uses this external drive, but I'm thinking it should? Any help would be appreciated!

Two libraries is normal - iPhoto and Photos each have their own separate library - they do share access to the same original photos and previews to save space - Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries - Apple Support - but the libraries are separate
Try backing up your Photos library and holding down the option and command keys while launching Photos - repair the database and see if that helps
