iphone 6, home screen is magnified 15x, cannot access unlock

My iPhone 6 home screen suddenly appeared magnified 15 times or so. For example one icon takes up half the home screen. Apple said its a software problem and to go back to factory settings. I tried holding down the power button and the off key on the side for 7 seconds to reset, but the same thing happened. Support told me that other iPhone 6 users had the same problem.

Anybody have a solution, other than going back to the last backup?
