my mac keeps using the older version of 6.1.6 instead of Lion 10.7.5

Can someone help me? I'm new to Mac's and my mac keeps running the older version of safari instead of the Lion one that is installed. How do I get it to run the newer version?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

It’s working properly. The current Safari version for Lion is 6.1.6.
