iBooks chapter different on devices

I am reading a book on my iPhone (6) and for example it will be on chapter eight and the name of the chapter is "the hero" yet when I go on my MacBook Pro (2012) and go to chapter eight it is a different chapter, while chapter seven is the "the hero". Why are the chapters different on the each device?
