Unable to see new text message

I received a text message, but I am unable to access/read/see the message on my iPhone.

On my iPhone:

The Text Message icon shows 1 unread message, but when I open Messages, nothing shows as unread.

I can see the text message in Notification Center, but when I select the message from Notification Center, nothing shows as unread.

On my iPad:

The Text Message icon showed 1 unread message. When I opened Messages, I was able to see and read the message.

When I closed Messages, the icon showed no unread messages.

Back to my iPhone:

Message icon still showing 1 unread message, but when I open Messages, nothing shows as unread.

I have never had a problem with Messages, and opening/reading between devices.... When I read it on one device, it clears the unread status on the other device.

iPhone is an iPhone 6 running iOS 8.3

Try a reset:

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).

Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

All apps are closed.

I've also tried resetting my device, and powered on/off...

still no luck.

I'm not sure what the problem is - maybe it's buried in your old messages? I would ask Siri to read you your unread messages and see if that does the trick.
