Mac Pro to TV - No Audio

I have an early 2009 Mac Pro tower (specs: Mac Pro (Early 2009) - Technical Specifications) and I am trying to connect it to my Sharp Aquos (2008-ish). Currently, the picture is connected and displayed via DVI-to-HDMI cable. I know that DVI does not carry audio so I have tried, but with no success, 3.5" audio cable from tower-to-TV, stereo cable from tower-to-TV (left & right) and optical audio cable.

Does anyone have any possible solutions for me? Should I simply use the PC Input on the TV with a DVI to VGA cable and regular 3.5" audio cable? Has anyone had any success using the TV speakers for audio?

Please help! Thanks!!
