No NOTES can be found from before 2013...

I turned the icloud drive on today for my devices (2 iphones and an ipad). Now I can no longer see any of my notes from before 2013. I had many, many notes, as I had been able to sync my notes from previous devices before I even got any Apple devices. This is not good - please advise. There is nothing from before 2013 in the cloud either.
