some keys stopped working on wireless keyboard

Q, W, E, R, T, & shift buttons suddenly stopped working. This is the 2nd time this has happened within a week or 2. This keyboard replaced the last one when most of the keys on the left side stopped working. I only had this current (it was lightly used before I got it)keyboard for 2 days when it started happening again. I'm fairly certain this is a keyboard issue, not imac. I've troubleshooter suggested fixes like changing batteries, restarting, checking the speech settings, etc., but no luck.

What can I do? Or is this keyboard just total garbage?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), wireless keyboard

Reset the SMC and PRAM, do each 2-3 times and then retest. If the problem persists replace the keyboard.

I tried the SMC reset- it did not help. I can't reset the PRAM because it requires me to press one of the buttons that don't work.

Please use a wired USB keyboard and then do the SMC reset multiple times back to back. You should then be able to reset the PRAM too, if those resets do not work your wireless keyboard is likely kaput.
