messages disappearing

I have updated my iphone 6 to iOS 8.3. A few days ago my messages started disappearing. When I scroll back more than 2 screens it jumps back to the new messages with a huge gap of over 3 weeks. and all messages prior to June 1st are completely gone with every message thread that is open. I have my settings so that the messages are to be kept "forever" and I manually delete them. I have 34 GB of memory available so It isn't a memory issue. I lost a lot of important messages. IS there a way to stop the iphone from deleting the messages and restore them? I have reset my factor settings and done a reset on my phone this did NOT fix the issue.
