One way is to go to Mail > preferences > Account, highlight it and hit the - (minus) button at the bottom of the sidebar.
the email never loaded properley as it was a hotmail account and computer keeps trying to log in to it so im not getting a minus symbol come up as ots not offically registered the account
Please send a screen shot of Mail - Preferences - Accounts and indicate which account you want removed from Mail.
Well, I'm getting a little confused: if you didn't "register" the account, then how did it get into Mail accounts?
Aside from the screenshot requested, also check here: System Preferences > Internet Accounts. Is it listed there? If so, remove it. Also check your iCloud settings - is it there?
it was trying to register but couldnt so kept bringing up messages. advice was great and account now removed thanks
You're welcome!
