I am being asked to sign into iTunes store when trying to open an app. Virus?

I turned my off while unavailable. When I turned it back on, anytime I tried to click on an app, such as Facebook or twitter I am asked to sign in to the iTunes store. I have not changed the password and I've never seen this before.
