Is it possible to connect remotely to an Airport Extreme that is connected to a Linksys router running Tomato?

We've installed a Linksys router running Tomato (to more closely monitor network traffic) between the modem and our Airport Extreme. We've disabled wireless on the Linksys and the Airport continues to assign IP addresses to the users. There are 2 Airport Express units connected via CAT5 extending the network. Previously I could connect remotely via Airport Utility but after installing the Linksys last week the ISP supplied IP address now goes to the Linksys and it has assigned the Airport the address 192.168.1.5. Connecting to the Linksys via web is the IP plus port 8080 and then signing in with the username and password. Is there any way to enter that data into the Airport Utility login to tunnel through to the Airport Extreme?

You have a couple of problems.

1. BTMM and WAN bonjour does not work through another router with the Airport either bridged or in double NAT.

2. You are going to need to manually forward the required ports through the Linksys to the Airport.. but the double NAT is going to make it hugely difficult.. so you really need to bridge or use static IP set on the Airport.

This method works better than bridge.. but even bridge should be fine.. the AE will still control the express units.

Can I ask why do you want to connect remotely via airport utility? What info are you after that Tomato will not give you??

A better method IMHO.. is use your E3000 with a firmware that gives you vpn access to the network. I am not sure if that is compiled into the later Tomato versions but you can certainly find other versions that do.. running a vpn server on the E3000.. and running a single flat network.. ie the AE must be bridged.. will allow you full remote access to your entire network.. without any apple nasties.
