I am attempting to reset my macbook air to factory settings before I sell it. I am having a hard time with this for some reason. Everytime I attempt to reset it seems there is some sort of lock on my internal hard drive preventing me from doing so. Could anyone help with this??

What exactly do you mean?
I shut down my computer and when I follow the steps to restart and restore my MacBook, a lock screen shows up preventing my from choosing the disk I want to restore. It is difficult to explain and I have never had this problem before. I am just basically wanting to wipe my computer clean before I get rid of it so that the person I am selling it to will not have access to my information and it will be wiped clean like a new computer.
A firmware password has been set. If you don't know that password, you'll have to go to a "Genius Bar" or other authorized service provider to have it reset. You may be asked for proof of ownership.
