Hi! This is a very frustrating solution but i have found a fix. If Your On Iphone All You Have To do Is go:

SOLUTION:

(On Iphone But Read to The End for computer) Go To Playlists -> Tap The Playlist You Wanna Add A Song To -> Press Edit At The Top Right -> Press Add Music -> Search The Song You Wanna Play And Select It -> Then Press Add. The Song Shows Up One The Playlist (Finally lol) If Your On Mac Or Computer, Still Do The Same Process On Your Phone, and it should automatically Connect And You Should Have The Music On Both Devices. I Hope This Helped Ya’ll! :D

Ok, figured it out, but man, what a silly way to launch.

From Lifehacker

The first thing you’ll notice when you launch the new Music app is that the tabs for Artists, Playlists, etc are all gone. They’re all now consolidated in the “My Music” tab on the far right. Tap that to see your music library. At the top, you can toggle between your music and your playlists. Tap the “Artists” dropdown and you can sort by artists, albums, songs, genres, composers, and compilations.

There’s also one very important toggle in that Artists dropdown menu called “Music Available Offline.” For me, this toggle was set to On. If you turn that off, you’ll be able add music from Apple Music’s service to your library.

Why they didn't have that set as the reverse is mind-boggling.

Nope. Doesn't work. I can see my icloud music fine. I can see all my playlists fine.

But if I try add a song that is playing to a playlist it does not work. As noted above, you get a check mark saying it was added, but it does not actually add the song.

This is a huge fail - how could they bugger this one up? As an aside, the lack of being able to add a song with one click to an instant 'thumbs up' or 'favorites' playlist should be there as well. Why not have a 'For You' playlist that gets populated with every song I 'heart'?

Just noticed this is in the mac forum. I am having this issue on ipad.

Okay. Interesting, if I try add a song that is playing by using the 3 ellipses on the player, it does not work.

However if I search for the album and then add the song right from the album list (do not play it), it adds to the playlist no problem. Also syncs fine between my ipad and 5s.

I see same behaviour on my 5s and ipad.

What is funny, all playlists are synced together. So I found my main playlist with more than 200 songs have only few songs on my iPhone... I clicked edit to see what's wrong, when I pressed done it deleted my whole playlist.

Now who can bring my list back! I am thinking to go back to my old Beats Music subscription since Apple just destroyed my first music experience with Apple Music.

Apple, please don't be the next Microsoft!

I had the same problem, and tried the tricks I could find on internet. Nothing worked.

After that, I tried the classic reboot-trick, and after the phone started up again I got a message that one track couldn't be added, which may indicate that a track locked the "add to playlist functionality".

After that message everything seems ok again, and I can now add tracks to playlists.
