iOS 8.4 how do I turn off music shuffle
I have an album (Opera) where order is important. The new Music app keeps shuffling it ... and filling an up next list ... how do I p[lay tracks 1 to 82 in order?
MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Carrie, I am currently using an app called Press Play and Go for my classes. It was made for Les Mills instructors, but it also lets you easily set up freeform classes. Great features that it has:
-- Build in pauses of any length between tracks
-- Designate the music to stop after a track until you restart it (like when you want to demonstrate something)
-- Option to play snippets from your playlist before class starts if you want it to
-- Practice mode
-- Create the playlists INSIDE the app
I'm lovin' it. : )

Excellent idea to retire the shuffle, it or just totally deactivate it.
didnt help
It certainly is a terrible piece of programming, as if it was thrown is an an after-thought on a Friday at quitting time. I should not have had to waste time looking on a forum to figure out how to turn shuffle off. But, that's already been said here many times . . . I agree with the masses on this one.
Thank you for the help on this problem - as the old saying goes, "it's easy when you know how" - perhaps 'shuffle' is the 'default position' of the thinking patterns of one or more of the developers?? :-)
I read much of this thread and I am grateful that decent people are kind enough to provide step by step instructions on how to turn off shuffle, which is deeply intrusive to classical music listeners.
But my gratitude is tempered by my sputtering rage at how user-unfriendly this is, in particular the amount of real estate given to the word "Shuffle" and the shuffle icon, both of which fail to allow a user to turn shuffle off.
Apple seems to believe the entire world thinks in terms of individual tracks. I hit another problem where I started playing the first track of an album, and after the track was done, the music stopped. This led me to another forum thread and more advice about the convoluted technique of using the Songs view to check all the tracks. Do you see a theme here? Track track track.
Don't get me started about the Column Browser. Gotta watch the blood pressure.
This does not work for me. I am using my iPad and I do not have the shuffle option at the bottom as per the pictures. I can't click on shuffle or double tap on it or anything. I only have shuffle option.
Me niether... Everything is as you say, except the menu is on the right, and still does not give a shuffle option...
Why can't they leave things alone!
That doesn't look like iOS 8.4 to me, with the options that you are getting it looks like the phone is on iOS 10 - on your first screenshot try swiping up, from the iOS 10 iPhone manual : https://help.apple.com/iphone/10/#/iph0138fb328
Hello,
My screen does not show like your screen since I did the update. I don't see a shuffle button. Am I over looking it?

Really bad design. Not the only stupid thing, try selecting Songs! They organize them by artist name , ***, if I wanted them organised by artist I would have selected artist, you select Songs organise them by song title.
